Breathing Monitor FAQ

Who can use ou monitors?

MonitorBaby is suitable for all babies from birth up to one year of age. The monitor helps alert parents by tracking their baby's movements when the parents cannot be close by.

How does MonitorBaby work?

The monitor detects even the slightest movement of your baby and activates a visual and audible alarm if no movement is detected.

Do I need to attach anything directly to my baby?

No – our monitors are completely contactless and operate (monitoring) through the mattress in the baby's cot.

Why choose MonitorBaby?

Because our primary focus is the safety of your baby, every effort has been made to ensure our monitor is simple, reliable, and easy to use at home.

Is the monitor reliable?

No monitor is 100% foolproof. However, our monitors have a very low false-alarm rate thanks to high-quality design and service.

Why two sensor pads?

Our monitors come with two large sensor pads. This allows the device to adapt to your baby's growth and movements. For newborns sleeping in a smaller cot or bassinet, one sensor pad provides sufficient sensitivity. For infants older than three months, who move around more in the crib, two sensor pads are recommended. Both pads can be connected with the supplied cable, ensuring complete coverage of your baby's sleeping area.

How exactly does MonitorBaby detect movement?

The sensor pads detect your baby's body movements. If no movement at all is detected, an alarm immediately goes off.

What about false alarms?

No monitor is completely immune to false alarms. Some alarms are actually "true" alarms. In every case, it's important to check on your baby to ensure their safety. The most frequent cause of false alarms is a loose cable or improper installation. Checking the setup often solves the issue. Our monitors have an extremely low false-alarm rate (less than 1%).

Why is the monitor alarming even though my baby is breathing normally?

This can happen if there is poor contact with the sensor pads. Please ensure that the mattress fits tightly within the crib frame and that no gap exists between the mattress and sensor pads.

Why does no alarm sound when I take my baby out of the crib?

MonitorBaby is extremely sensitive. Sensor pads may detect vibrations from other sources, such as footsteps near the crib or if the crib touches another vibrating source. If the crib is placed on a wooden or floating floor, it may be necessary to place vibration-absorbing pads (like carpet squares) beneath the crib legs.

Are there any restrictions regarding mattress thickness?

MonitorBaby is designed to work optimally with standard foam mattresses commonly used for cribs. There is no thickness limit identified for foam mattresses. However, issues may occur with mattresses filled with coconut fibre, where the recommended maximum mattress thickness is 10 cm.
